WHO WE ARE
The Whiting family sawmill built in 1893 near Springville, Utah, was the first of many Whiting family enterprises. In 1952, the family built a modern sawmill at the base of the Kaibab Plateau, north of the Grand Canyon. Because of the beauty and rich heritage associated with the area, “Kaibab”, an Indian word meaning “The Mountain Lying Down,” was chosen as a fitting name for this new family venture.
Today the Kaibab name remains synonymous with resilience, heritage, and legacy.
From its roots as a single sawmill, Kaibab has grown into a successful Arizona based corporation. Kaibab Industries, Inc. is the parent company to various diversified companies including Sawmill Crossing, LLC and ClubUSA, both in Payson, Arizona. In addition, they are part owners of Sawmill Theatres, LLC, located at Sawmill Crossing.
Kaibab Petroleum Company at one time operated thirty-seven self-service gasoline stations. These gasoline stations were located throughout Arizona and operated under the trade names of “Chevron,” “Unocal,” “Mobil” and “Whiting.”
Kaibab Property Management Company is actively involved in developing various real estate projects in Utah and Arizona.
